transitional KINDERGARTEN

TK develops a love of learning through play and social interaction of students in the classroom while learning basic math and language skills.

 

LANGUAGE ARTS

TK students will be learning about primary skills for reading and writing. Students will learn book concepts, phonics and letter formation.

MATHEMATICS

TK students will be introduced to various mathematical concepts throughout the year.  Students should be able to count and recognize numbers up to 20, understand various mathematic vocabulary and be able to us various manipulatives properly.

SCIENCE

TK students will learn about color mixing, senses, plant and animal life cycles, magnets, hibernation, habitats and planets.

MUSIC

TK students are constantly exposed to music throughout the day in class. We sing month song, nursery rhymes, and practice rhythm in class. They will also practice songs through movement.

RELIGION

TK students will learn about the love that God has for each and every child. We will learn about different Bible stories and practice basic prayers. They will also learn how to do the sign of the cross and attend mass bi-weekly starting in November.

social studies | history

TK students will learn about different American history stories and figures throughout the year.

field trips

TK students will partake in fun trips to various places around the community. Past field trips have been the pumpkin patch, fire station, children’s museum, a musical and farmer’s market. Students will develop new friendships and learn about God’s love for us. 

physical education

Our TK program participates in physical education daily with just our class. They practice basic movements and spatial awareness. We also practice gross motor skills through games.
