KATY GLADDEN | Librarian

The SJS Library collection is one of the largest elementary school collections in Sonoma County with over 9,000 books.  Books are identified by their reading level under the Accelerated Reader Program.

Students can search the library collection using OPAC, the Online Public Access Catalogue.  This application can be used to find out if a book has a corresponding reading level and AR quiz.

READ TO A DOG program

Designed to INSPIRE & SUPPORT student literacy

Every year, the students at Saint John the Baptist Catholic School receive the opportunity to read to a dog.  Academic studies have shown that reading to a dog creates a relaxed, non judgmental atmosphere, in which, a child learns more easily. Especially for early readers, it enhances the students reading confidence. This in turn has a positive effect on their reading ability and literacy. Many thanks to the 4PAWS organization for providing our students with canine reading companions.
