THIRD GRADE OVERVIEW

In third grade students apply the skills they practiced in 1st and 2nd grade as they begin to “read to learn.” Students use their reading skills to complete research projects in Social Studies and Science.

 

LANGUAGE ARTS

Third grade students Students perform their first novel studies as they read a variety of chapter books throughout the year. Third grade promotes deeper understanding and application of sight and spelling words in both practice and testing.

MATHEMATICS

Third grade math introduces the fundamental skills and practices of multiplication, division, and fractions.

SCIENCE

Third grade students explore ecosystems, habitats, and the animals that live in them.

social studies | history

Third grade students learn about the community around them and begin to study California history.

RELIGION

Third grade students will be led to a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith through our beliefs and traditions. They receive a balance between doctrine, Scripture, and the liturgical year. Our study begins Before Christ (BC)  with the Fall of Man and follows through In the Year of Our Lord (AD) ending with Our Mother, Mary.
